Way of Life Assembly of God Missions Program
As part of the body of Christ, the Way of Life Assembly of God will work to fulfill the Great Commission as spoken by our Lord Jesus Christ to His disciples in Matthew 28:18-20:
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and earth. Go therefore
and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe
all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even
to the end of the age. Amen.”
And to lead the lost to Jesus, salvation and the Kingdom of God.
Vision Statement
The Way of Life Assembly of God will fulfill our mission by increasing the support of the missionaries we currently support; supporting additional missionaries; and participating in the seeding of new churches in our NJ District Assembly of God, as the Lord makes known and instructs.
Brief History
From the beginning, evangelism and missions have been central to the identity of the Assemblies of God and have resulted in a continuing growth at home and abroad.
The missions programs of the church are designed to establish self-supporting and self-propagating national church bodies in every country. Ministers and leaders are trained in 1,891 Bible schools around the world.
Missions has been at the foundation of the Assemblies of God since its inception, and it is one of the most important visions of this church.
The Way of Life A/G was established 19 years ago as a Mission church, when the NJ District sent Pastor Steve and Dianne Wright to the Atlantic City area. Just as other missionaries are sent around the US and the world, they were sent here to establish a church to reach out to a community in dire need of the Lord. This church matured from a Mission church to an Affiliate church, and our Missions Program came into it’s own in February, 2001. We had always supported missions, but since 2001, our missionaries have been supported by a dedicated fund, over and above tithes, given by the congregation. This fund is modeled after the Assemlies’ Faith Promise Giving
Our immediate goal is to continue to support current missionaries and to support additional missionaries until we are supporting every missionary sent from the New Jersey District. We currently support 11 foreign missionary families serving in China, Africa, Panama, Indonesia, Pacific Oceana, the Middle East, India, Costa Rica, Antigua and Barbados, Spain and the 7 Southern Republics of Russia. We also support 1 home (New Jersey based) missionary family working with junior and senior high school students through the Youth Alive ministry.
